These noodles have a proper sour kick from the fermented kimchi that balances out the heat nicely, so it's not just pure burn. I boiled them about three minutes and the noodles stayed chewy instead of turning to mush. The 135 g pack is a solid single portion for lunch.
The kimchi flavor comes through in the broth without masking that signature Buldak burn, and the noodle bundle cooks up perfectly chewy in about four minutes. One pack is a proper meal for me, and the fermented tang makes it feel a bit more complex than the regular hot chicken version.
That heat level sneaks up on you right as the kimchi tang hits, and the noodles soak up the sauce perfectly without getting mushy. I've tried a lot of spicy instant ramen and this one's the first to nail that fermented kick so well.
