The chipotle and smoked paprika give this a proper campfire depth that I wasn't expecting from a dry rub. I've been using it on grilled chicken thighs all summer and it builds this slow, smoky heat instead of just pure burn. Genuinely my new default for anything hitting the grill.
Rubbed this on a pork shoulder before a slow smoke and the chipotle and smoked paprika really came through. The cumin keeps it from being just pure heat, which I appreciate. It's earned a permanent spot next to my grill.
It's got a nice smoky cumin taste that worked really well on a batch of chili, though I used less than the recipe suggested because the cayenne kicks harder than expected. Solid rub overall, just watch your portions until you know your heat tolerance.
